Kuba Janyst – visual artist and architect. A graduate of the Faculty of Architecture at the Cracow University of Technology and the College of Architecture and Design at the University of Tennessee. For over two decades, he operated within the rigorous systems of spatial planning and large-scale architecture, designing structures for state institutions and global capital.
Currently, his practice is based on the strategy of unlearning – a conscious shedding of architectural discipline in favor of investigating error, noise, and entropy. Janyst employs the method of both urban and digital flânerie to discover traces of authentic presence within structures dominated by algorithmic order and the rigor of real estate development. He is the creator of the proprietary print painting methodology, in which he materializes the immaterial signal, constructing dense, relief-like structures that record the tension between technology and biology. His works are held in the permanent collection of the Mark Rothko Art Centre in Latvia, as well as in various private collections.
